I didn't have time to complete anymore Illustrator lessons today, but I'm really liking this program a lot more this time. I can't remember why I wasn't impressed with Illustrator before. <scratching my head>
I whipped this up last night. Don't get too excited. The cute frame with the dots, I purchased on iStockphoto.com. This is a voucher for a big Valentine's Day fundraiser that we are doing at my daughter's school.
But I could totally see how easy this would be to create in illustrator.
Is it just me or does time seem to speed up the older you get?
Think about it. When you were little, summers lasted forever. I could
have sworn that it was just Septemeber yesterday.
If you follow Ali Edward's blog,
you know that she introduced the concept of selecting a word that
represents what you want in the new year. I'm thinking my word is EMBRACE. As in embrace change. Embrace life.
Do you choose a word? Do you scrap it?
Tomorrow or rather in a few hours, I'm going forth on a new adventure. I'm starting a new blog called 365 challenges. I will share a new scrapbooking related challenge every day over the next year. I hope you will stop by and maybe join in a challenge or two.
This is a picture of my husband and Uncle Franco. They were the chefs of yesterday's feast, which I have to say was eaten on time for the first time since we started hosting.
I think hosting is a lot of work with little enjoyment. I mean I love to see people enjoying themselves, but I don't get to visit or enjoy them much. I'm busy running around, making sure everyone has a drink or something to eat. I'm getting the chef utensils or another serving dish. I barely ate yesterday, much less enjoyed a glass of wine.
That said, it was a good Thanksgiving. Lots to be thankful for this year, and good company to enjoy the food.
How was your thanksgiving? Do you enjoy hosting big dinners?
This morning I made tomato sauce. I used the last of the tomatoes from the garden to make the sauce.
(Some pictures of my tomatoes)
This was the second year of my attempt at vegetable gardening. It has been a learning experience. Of the four tomato plants that I put in the garden only the roma tomatoes and the yellow pear tomatoes bore a ton of fruit. I don't know what happened to those heirloom tomato plants that I put in and I'm not sure if I'll those again next year.
There are still a few green tomatoes on the plant but no more yellow blossoms and the green stems have turned rather brown. So into the yard waste bin the tomato plant will go this afternoon.
How about you? Do you have a vegetable garden? How did your garden do this year?
Thank you for all your sympathetic comments on my Facebook addict post yesterday. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone out there in cyber space.
Many of you commented that you spouses would be glad for the loss of the time suck called Facebook. I actually accused my husband of hacking into my account because he complains constantly about Farmville. You would think that I'm planting and harvesting crops constantly. SERIOUSLY? Don't they know that crops take TIME to grow?
Well, you all know what I will be doing this weekend...working on my farm! Anyone want to be my farmville friend?
I'll admit it. I love to read what everyone is doing and thinking about. I always have my blackberry with me and I'm checking multiple times during the day, just so I don't miss anything.
Two days ago, I lost my facebook access and I've been experiencing withdrawals.
I'm not sure what happened but facebook asked for my password and then said it was incorrect and decided that my email account wasn't valid. I've discovered that customer service for a free application is non-existent.
Last night, my techie husband, suggested that I try opening a new account with the same email. It worked! So, I'm starting over from scratch and sending invites to people to be my "friends" again. The worst part is that I lost my farm in farmville. (Sad and pathetic, I know).
Every day I ask myself the same question. "What to make for dinner?" I really hate that question. For once I would like someone else to answer.
You would think that pasta would be a slam dunk but NO! I have one
kid that will not eat it. I struggle to get my kids to eat their
veggies. Please don't tell me your kids would rather eat veggies
than candy. My kids love their carbs and it's a struggle to get them to eat protein.
Trying to please 5 peoples' various desires is tiring. I have to get creative. I'm always looking for new ideas and recipes. I read magazines and scour the internet. 9 times out of 10, I'll find one recipe in a cooking magazine to try. The recipe needs to be simple. Something quick is best. It has to contain ingredients that they might recognize.
So Max is out tonight at a dinner meeting or something in the city. We are having Chili, which the kids love and he doesn't. It's a recipe that I found in Cooking Light magazine.
I promised you a layout. Here it is. Another digi layout from our anniversary trip.

Ok, maybe Christmas isn't next week, but it's coming, and FAST! There is now less than 45 days until Christmas. Then you need to subtract mailing time. So less another 10 days. That means there is really 35 days left to get those Christmas projects done.
I don't do a lot of home made type of gifts but do a few and they are now EXPECTED every year. So I need to get going on ...
-Christmas cards. I don't make my cards but I do make photo cards. My trauma every year is coming up with a picture of my kids. I've given up on trying to get a picture of them together, because it's just way too hard to get 3 kids looking cute and in the same direction at the same time. Need to take pictures, figure out what they are going to wear and order the pictures
-Create calendars A LONG time ago, I started making photo calendars. Now they are expected. I really should start on this today because it does take some time to get them printed.
-Finish layouts for the inlaws/outlaws albums Every year, I make some pages to add to my inlaws album of shots from the past year of the kids. I'm sure my efforts aren't appreciated very much, but the effort keeps the hubby happy.
I've got a list of layouts that need to be done and I've actually finished 10 of them. But I still have at least 6 more layouts to make.
So in the spirit of getting stuff done, I'm adding a countdown to Christmas widget to the blog. (I'm hearing a collective groan here). Yes, a constant reminder that we need to get our act together.
Do you have projects that you need to get cracking on? Enjoy!
